The increasing social friction caused by cultural, ethnic, and religious differences demands strengthening wasathiyyah (moderation) in cross-cultural interactions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which intercultural collaboration influences the strengthening of wasathiyyah values and its contribution to the formation of a civil society in the global era. This study is based on Gudykunst's theory of intercultural communication competence, Yusuf al-Qaradawi's concept of Islamic moderation (wasathiyyah), and Nurcholish Madjid's principles of civil society. The research methodology employed a quantitative approach with a survey design of 230 respondents from various ethnic and religious backgrounds in Padang City. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire, which was tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression to determine the effect of cross-cultural collaboration variables on the level of internalization of wasathiyyah values and civil social participation. The results showed that cross-cultural collaboration had a positive and significant effect on strengthening wasathiyyah values (p < 0.05) and resulted in increased social participation based on the principles of justice, tolerance, and deliberation. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the wasathiyyah concept within the framework of intercultural collaboration using a quantitative empirical approach.
